Patio FAQ
How thick should a concrete patio be?
4 inches is standard for residential. Every pour gets wire mesh or rebar reinforcement. We go 6 inches for heavy use — hot tub pads, outdoor kitchens, or anywhere with rolling load.
How is drainage handled?
Every patio is graded with a slight slope (about 1/8 inch per foot) away from the house. Keeps water from pooling and from running back toward the foundation.
Can you extend an existing patio?
Yes, but the new pour won't bond to the old one. We use an expansion joint between the two so they can flex independently. Color match between fresh and weathered concrete is impossible — the new section will look different until both age in.
Stamped or standard — which should I pick?
Standard broom-finish is cheaper, less slippery when wet, and easier to repair. Stamped looks like flagstone or pavers and adds resale value. Both last decades. Comes down to look vs. cost.
